Summary

Often rail worksites are complex with limited access and lots of work groups undertaking work, this kind of environment cannot be represented within normal planning tools, such as P3e.

This is where activity maps can be used, they display the worksite and then present the access points and the varying work groups undertaking work.

They are produced within Excel, so are really simple to create and maintain, experience shows that spending time developing the maps with save time and hassle within the worksite.

Activity maps are also an excellent tool for briefing resources at whiteboard meetings and also monitoring work on site.
